Knoxville Ice Bears News Release

Riding high from a big win last night over the Columbus Cottonmouths, The Knoxville Ice Bears just couldn't find the fuel to ground the Penscola Ice flyers. Despite nine power play chances, the Ice Bears lost the 5-4 to the Ice Flyers tonight at home. This marks the first road win for the Ice Flyers since November 20, 2009.

The Ice Flyers zoom to a fast lead, scoring two goals in the first three and a half minutes of play. Knoxville answered back late in the period when defenseman Travis Martell lights the lamp for his second goal of the season. Frank Furdero scored the second Ice Bears goal of the period on a power play ending the first period tied at 2-2.

Pensacola quickly dominated the second period with another two goals including one short-handed goal within the first three minutes of play. The Ice Bears made a change at net by replacing Dan Earles with Andrew Gallant, who made nine saves in the remainder of the period and held the score to 4-2, Pensacola.

Ice Flyers once again glided out of the gate in the third with a goal just over a minute into the period, but Knoxville rallied back with goals by Bobby Joe Pelkey and Kevin Swider. The Knoxville Ice Bears didn't find the net anymore, and lost the first game of a two-night stand to the Pensacola Ice Flyers 5-4.
