
Ice Bears Out-Gunned in Third Period

Knoxville, TN - The Knoxville Ice Bears fell to the Mississippi RiverKings 5-2 in front of a crowd of 2,632.
The Knoxville Ice Bears looked to continue their late period flurry from yesterday's game as they out played, out shot and out scored their cross state rival, during the first period. Knoxville's Tyler Fernandez buried a backhand shot past RiverKings' netminder Matthew Krahn to jump out to a first period lead 1-0.
The second period was a completely different story as it was the RiverKings who turned the tables when forward, Ian Finnerty scored an unassisted goal 14 seconds in the middle period. The RiverKings took their first lead of the game just six and half minutes later when Matt Harrington scored a power play goal to make it 2-1.
The Ice Bears were unable to solve Krahn as they peppered him with 11 shots and headed into the locker room down a goal after 40 minutes of play.
The Ice Bears bounced back in the third period when Fernandez notched his second goal of the evening off a backhand pass from Brett Valliquette who one timed the puck over Krahn's shoulder.
Mississippi forward Kevin Willer scored a power play goal at 7:02 of the third to regain the one goal advantage for the road team 3-2.
Knoxville pressed to draw even but it was who Mississippi managed to score two goals in the final two minutes of play to seal victory for the RiverKings 5-2.
