Iowa Cubs News Release

OKLAHOMA CITY - Williams Perez spun seven strong innings and the Iowa Cubs (40-47) provided the offensive support, dominating the Oklahoma City Dodgers (48-37) 13-3, Thursday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Perez (5-7) allowed two runs on six hits to take his fifth consecutive win, becoming the first Iowa starter to win five straight starts since Carlos Pimentel in 2015. The righty is 5-2 with a 2.79 ERA since June 4. The only dent in his line came with a solo shot from Willie Calhoun in the fourth and an RBI single from Bobby Wilson in the seventh.

The I-Cubs bats were busy as they outhit the Dodgers 14-9. Jacob Hannemann opened the scoring with a two-run homer to right-center in the third inning. Iowa kept rolling from there, putting up five in both the fourth and sixth innings.

Four I-Cubs had multi-hit games, including Perez, who helped himself with a 2-for-3 game, a walk and two RBI. John Andreoli had a night, going 3-for-6 with two doubles and two runs, while matching a career-best with four runs knocked in. Taylor Davis chipped in an RBI triple in the fourth, his first of the season, and Mark Zagunis knocked in two with a double in the sixth.

Iowa returns to Principal Park for a three-game series against Omaha beginning tomorrow at 7:08 p.m. Friday Night Fireworks will follow the contest. For more information or tickets, visit www.iowacubs.com .
