Huxley Back for Fifth Wranglers Season, Named Player-Assistant Coach
August 14, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas - The Las Vegas Wranglers announced Wednesday that left wing Adam Huxley has agreed to terms with the team for the 2013-14 season. Huxley will also act as a player-assistant coach to Wranglers Head Coach and General Manager Mike Madill.
"Adam has played a lot of years of pro hockey, and he earned the player-assistant coach title by being a long-time leader and helping in countless areas off the ice with his teammates and community," said Madill. "There aren't a lot of players in North America who can do the same job Huxley does night in and night out. Adam wants to win every time he puts that jersey on, and he is a very important part of our organization - anyone will tell you that. We are all very excited to have him return."
Huxley, 29, has spent nine seasons in the ECHL, and four of them with the Wranglers. Since first lacing up for Las Vegas in 2004-05, the 6-foot, 200-pound left wing has picked up 18 goals, 17 assists, and 709 penalty minutes. A Wranglers fan favorite known for his fighting prowess, Huxley spent 294 minutes in the box his first year, earning him the club record for most penalty minutes in a season. His 709 penalty minutes set a new club record for all-time Wranglers penalty minutes last year, and he was second only to the Stockton Thunder's Garet Hunt for most penalty minutes in the ECHL in 2012-13.
"I came back to the Wranglers because the organization is like family to me, and Vegas is like home," said Huxley. "All that's on my mind is to win a championship and nothing else."
A native of Wainwright, Alberta, Huxley brings 31 games of American Hockey League experience to the Wranglers. In stints with the Springfield Falcons, Chicago Wolves, and Bridgeport Sound Tigers, he posted one assist and 86 penalty minutes.
