Gladiators Bring Back Bloodoff
August 14, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlanta Gladiators News Release
DULUTH, Ga. - The Gwinnett Gladiators announced the signing of Evan Bloodoff on Wednesday, after the forward scored 20 goals in 52 regular season games with Gwinnett and five more goals in ten playoff games last season.
Bloodoff (pronounced BLUED-OFF), 22, was a sixth round pick of the Coyotes (#157 overall) in 2006. In his first full season as a Gladiator in 2012-13 he finished third on the team in goals (20), and in points (38) to go along with 18 assists. He also finished second on the team in points in the playoffs with eight (five goals, three assists) in ten games, and scored the game-winning goal in Game 4 of the Gladiators Eastern Conference Quarterfinals series with South Carolina to help complete the sweep.
"There are multiple reasons why getting Evan back is so important for us," said Gladiators head coach Rick Emmett. "He has an American Hockey League pedigree, is motivated to improve, and is a terrific locker room guy. Evan is one of the most explosive players in the league; very few players can be considered game-breakers but he is one of them."
The Nelson, BC native spent five seasons in juniors with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League, before debuting as a pro with the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League in 2011-12. Bloodoff played in 48 games that season and racked up eight points (six goals, two assists). He spent most of last season in Gwinnett, but also appeared in nine games with the Pirates.
Bloodoff proved to be clutch throughout the 12-13 campaign, as he led Gwinnett with five game-winning goals in the regular season. He also had a seven-game point streak from October 28th to November 11th, and a five-game goal-scoring streak from February 19th to March 2nd.
Bloodoff joins defensemen Devon Krogh and Jonathan Narbonne on Gwinnett's 2013-14 roster.
The Gladiators are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and are affiliated with the Phoenix Coyotes of the NHL. All home games are played at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
