HALIFAX, N.S. - Thanks to late-game heroics from Mike Poole, the Halifax Hurricanes put together a startling comeback against the Island Storm at Scotiabank Centre on Thursday, beating the visiting P.E.I. team 104-99.
After trailing by as much as 20 and entering the fourth quarter down 12, Poole scored 19 points in the final frame to lead the Hurricanes to the five-point victory and finished with a team-high 27 points.
As a team, Halifax outscored the Storm 29-12 in fourth.
Up until the fourth, the Hurricanes had little answers for the Storm who were red-hot from the three-point line, shooting as well as 75 per cent from three in the second quarter and 52.9 per cent for the game.
The Hurricanes offence was led by Joel Kindred for much of the game. He finished with 21 points, six boards and two steals.
Off the bench, Jordan Washington fueled the Hurricanes third-quarter efforts to finish with 15 points in the paint and at the line while Malcolm Duvivier shot 5-12 from the floor for 13 points.
Guillaume Boucard led the Island Storm with a game-high 29 to go with a game-high 13 rebounds.
It was the Hurricanes sixth win in a row as they jockey for playoff position with just a little over a month left in the NBLC regular season.
After Thursday, the Hurricanes hit the road until Monday, Mar. 4, when the return to Scotiabank Centre to face the Island Storm once again. Get tickets in advance at the Ticket Atlantic Box Office or online.
