Halifax Hurricanes News Release
SAINT JOHN, N.B. - With a 91-86 win over the Saint John Riptide, the Halifax Hurricanes evened up their early season record to .500 on Sunday afternoon at Harbour Station.
The Hurricanes led for almost the entire game and were only outscored by the Riptide in the second quarter - by just one point.
Despite going 3-20 from the three-point range, the Hurricanes shot the ball efficiently from the field, hitting more than 46 per cent of their shots overall and converting nearly 82% of their free throws.
Much of that efficiency came from Hurricanes leading scorer for the game, Kedar Edwards who finished with 15 points on 7-8 shooting. Edwards also grabbed five rebounds.
Tyrone Watson returned to the Hurricanes lineup Sunday and showcased his consistent play with 12 points on 4-6 shooting and 4-4 at the free throw line, two of which came in the last minute of the game. Watson also pulled down five rebounds.
New Hurricane Gabe Freeman scored 14 points in his second game for Halifax.
Three other Hurricanes scored in double figures; Jordan Washington netted 11, while Cliff Clinkscales and Rhamel Brown each had 10 points.
The Riptide were led by Chris Early with a game-high 17 points, Frank Bartley with 16 and Brent Arrington with 14. Former Halifax Hurricane Renaldo Dixon put up eight points for the Riptide in his first home game for the Saint John squad.
The Hurricanes come back home again on Saturday, Dec. 1. That night, they'll host the KW Titans at 7 p.m. at Scotiabank Centre. The following afternoon, the St. John's Edge visit the Hurricanes. That game tips off at 2 p.m. Tickets for those game are available at the Ticket Atlantic Box Office or online.
