Mississippi RiverKings News Release

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Mississippi RiverKings (24-17-3) could not solve Kevin Genoe for the second consecutive night as the Huntsville Havoc (25-17-3) knocked off the RiverKings 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The lone goal of the contest came just 4:31 into the first period. Brock Sawyer picked up a loose puck on a broken play in front of John Griggs and blindly threw the puck past the RiverKings' netminder to put the Havoc on top 1-0.

In the second, tempers flared as the physical play ramped up. At the 12:08 mark, 28 penalty minutes were handed out, including a 10-minute game misconduct handed to Havoc Assistant Coach Jordan Little for throwing a water bottle onto the ice.

Both teams were held scoreless on the man advantage as Huntsville went 0-for-5 and the RiverKings could not find the back of the net on four power play opportunities.

John Griggs (6-8-1) stopped 20 of 21 shots against in the loss. Kevin Genoe (11-8-1) tallied his second shutout of the season after steering aside all 24 shots against.

The RiverKings are back in action tomorrow afternoon in Columbus against the Cottonmouths. The puck drops at 3:00 p.m. with all the action airing live at Old Style BBQ, the Official Away Game Watch Party Headquarters of the RiverKings.
