
Huntsville Off To Fast Start On Road

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc raced out to a 3-0 start with three win on the road. The Havoc silenced the Columbus Cottonmouths on Friday before grabbing back-to-back overtime wins in Twin City on Saturday and Sunday.
Friday, October 24 (at Columbus) - Karlis Zirnis made his Huntsville Havoc debut a memorable one scoring two goals and recording three assists as the Havoc spoiled the Columbus Cottonmouths home opener with a 6-2 win. Jonathan Lounsbury, Tristan Lush, Jeff Winchester and Travis Kauffeldt all netted goals for Huntsville. Lush added four assists while Bill McCreary recorded two. Winchester and Furdero both had one assist each. Jason Schulz and Ryan McCarthy scored for the Cottonmouths. Tim Haun got the start in goal and made 39 saves in the win. Chad Rycroft allowed all six goals and made 24 saves in the loss. The Havoc converted on 3-of-11 powerplays while Columbus only scored on 1-of-9.
Saturday, October 25 (at Twin City) - Travis Kauffeldt scored the game -winning goal just :46 into overtime and recorded a hat-trick giving the Huntsville Havoc a 6-5 win over the Twin City Cyclones. Twin City held the lead for most of the game before Huntsville scored two early third period goals by Karlis Zirnis and a short-handed penalty shot by Travis Kauffeldt. The Cyclones responded with two goals just :18 seconds apart by Allan Sirois and J.P. Pauly. Martin Kubaliak added a powerplay goal with 3:41 left in the to tie the score a 5-5. Kauffeldt got the Havoc on the board first with a first period powerplay goal. Twin City resonded with a Sirois and Matt Puntureri goals and held a 2-1 lead after the first. Shane Wagner added an early second period goal to extend the lead to 3-1 before Pat Doherty found the back of the net to cut the lead to one. Ross Cherry made 36 saves to get the first win of his career. Kevin Druce made 31 saves in the loss.
Sunday, October 26 (at Twin City) - The Huntsville Havoc scored their second straight overtime victory over the Twin City Cyclones with a 5-4 decision Sunday afternoon. Last night it was Travis Kauffeldt, today it was Mike O'Sullivan who ended the game with 1:11 left. Karlis Zirnis continued his hot start with one goal and two assists. John Ronan and Jordan Weibel both scored their first goals of the season. Tristan Lush also added a goal for the Havoc. Tim Haun got his second win of the season stopping 24 shots. Terry Dunbar took the loss for Twin City.
