Ogden Raptors News Release

OGDEN, UT - Ogden Raptors outfielder Niko Hulsizer has been named the Pioneer League's Player of the Week for July 23-29, Minor League Baseball announced Monday.

Hulsizer was 10-for-22 (a .455 average) over six games with two doubles, three home runs and six RBI. He also walked three times and scored five runs.

"Niko has really been putting in the work in the cage with (hitting coach) Dustin Kelly, he's really finding his swing and he's not trying to do too much," said Raptors manager Jeremy Rodriguez. "He's the type of hitter who gets in trouble when he tries to do more than he needs to. He's a big, strong guy, so when he starts putting together good, quality at-bats and lets his barrel and his body do everything, he's going to have success."

Hulsizer hit a solo shot in the second-to-last game in Helena before playing every game on the five-game homestand at Lindquist Field. He also launched solo home runs on July 27 against Grand Junction as well as July 29 as part of a three-RBI game against Idaho Falls in Ogden's 20-19 win.

The weekly honor marks the first for any Raptors player in 2018. In 2017, en route to their first Pioneer League championship, the Raptors saw two players and two pitchers recognized for weekly accomplishments, while Starling Heredia was the Pioneer League's Player of the Month for July.

Ogden begins a three-game road trip Monday evening at Grand Junction before returning home to host the Orem Owlz for a four-game set Thursday through Sunday leading into the All-Star break.
