Hulett to Return to Spokane for 10th Season
December 3, 2015 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Spokane Indians News Release
SPOKANE, Wash. - The Texas Rangers have announced the 2016 field staffs for their minor league affiliates, including the return of manager Tim Hulett for his tenth consecutive season. Ed Yong will also be returning as the Strength & Conditioning Coach for his eighth season. Hulett and Yong will be joined by Spokane first-timers Kenny Hook (Hitting Coach), Brian Shouse (Pitching Coach) and Jared Goedert (Assistant Coach).
Hulett is the longest tenured manager in the Indians rich, 113-year history. Originally named manager in 2007, the Shreveport, La., native has managed an Indians record 662 games. Hulett has compiled a 339-323 record in Spokane, including the 2008 Northwest League championship. Prior to the Indians, the former major leaguer enjoyed a 12-year playing career with the Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Yong, Spokane's longest tenured strength and conditioning coach, will be coming back to the Inland Northwest for his eighth consecutive season. His experience includes time with the Chinese Olympic Baseball Team and the Arizona Diamondbacks organization. He earned a B.S. from Arizona State University in 2000, and later received a master's degree in health sciences from A.T. Still University at Arizona in 2008. He has certifications from both the National Strength and Conditioning Association and the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
Hook enters his first season with the Spokane Indians, and third overall with the Texas organization. He's been the Hitting Coach for the Arizona Rookie League Rangers the past two years. The Texas native spent three seasons in Independent baseball with the Kansas City T-Bones, two as a manager. Hook has also spent time with Maple Woods Community College.
Shouse spent time with the Rangers' High Desert Mavericks (High-A) as the team's interim pitching coach in 2015. Prior, the Effingham, Ill., native spent seven years in the majors, his first three with the Texas Rangers. The pitcher had a unique left-handed side arm delivery. Shouse used the Tears for Fears song "Shout" as his entrance music.
Goedert retired from a nine-year minor league career in 2015. He was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the ninth round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft out of Kansas State University, and finished with the Toronto Blue Jays organization. Goedert played quarterback at Concordia High School, where he led the state of Kansas in passing yardage as a junior.
