St. Lucie Mets News Release

FORT MYERS, Fla. (April 17, 2015) - St. Lucie's road woes continued on Friday as the Fort Myers Miracle blanked the Mets 7-0 at Hammond Stadium.

The Mets managed just three singles and one walk. No player advanced past first base.

Miracle starter Chih-Wei Hu cruised through seven innings, allowing just two hits and one walk while striking out 10.

Tim Shibuya and J.T. Chargois each struck out a batter in the eighth and ninth.

In three road games this week - two at Brevard County and Friday at Fort Myers - the Mets managed just eight hits and one run in 27 innings.

At home this season the Mets are 4-0 and batting .396 with 36 runs scored.

Mets starter Marcos Molina was matching Hu early, but he served up a two-run homer to Jason Kanzler in the second inning.

Kanzler, who was 1 for 24 entering the game, doubled and scored in the fifth.

The game got away from Molina and the Mets in the sixth. The Miracle loaded the bases with a hit, error and a walk with no one out. Kyle Regnault relieved Molina and struck out two batters. Then with Kanzler at the plate, home plate umpire Ben Levin ruled Kanzler went around on an 0-1 pitch. Kanzler argued and was ejected.

Chad Christensen came off the bench inheriting the 0-2 count and blooped a two-run single to right field on the first pitch to make it 5-0 Fort Myers. Regnault then balked home another run.

Marcus Knecht finished the scoring for the Miracle with an RBI single off of Ricky Knapp in the eighth.

Molina tossed five innings and gave up six runs, but only two were earned. The Mets committed two errors in the game after committing three on Wednesday and three more on Thursday.

Amed Rosario, Dominic Smith and Jeff Glenn had the three singles for the Mets.

The Mets (5-4) and Miracle (4-5) continue their three-game series at Hammond Stadium on Saturday. First pitch is at 6:05 p.m. The game can be heard on www.stluciemets.com with the Voice of the Mets, Adam MacDonald.
