
Howton and Loggins lead Wild Things to 7-1 victory over Evansville

WashingtonâThe Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, beat the Evansville Otters 7-1 in front of a sellout crowd of 3,653 at Falconi Field Tuesday evening.
Jared Howton pitched seven strong innings and Josh Loggins had a home run and two RBI to lead the Wild Things to victory. The Wild Things got on the scoreboard in the first inning when Zack Cates singled home Blake Woods to make the score 1-0.
Washington scored five runs in the fourth inning against Otter starting pitcher Jeremy Lewis. Josh Loggins hit with a solo home run after one out. Jason Kane singled-- scoring Doug Garcia to give Washington a 3-1 lead. Orlando Cruz then broke the game open with a single that scored Kane and Josh Bollig. Blake Woods capped the scoring with an RBI single that plated Cruzâwho eluded the tag of Evansville catcher Jason Radwan to give the Wild Things a 6-1 lead. Loggins added his second RBI of the game in the seventh inning with a single that scored Blake Woods to give Washington a 7-1 lead.
David Trujillo hit a solo home run in the fifth inning to account for the Otters lone run. Jeremy Lewis took the loss for Evansville. Lewis' record dropped to 2-3. Jared Howton earned the victory, improving his record to 6-1.
The Wild Things will enjoy a day off Wednesday. Washington will begin a two game series at River City Thursday. The team returns to Washington on August 7th for a six game homestand.
