Howe and Wood Impressive at 2022-23 National Men's Summer U-18 Team Selection Camp

Calgary, Alta. - Regina Pats 2005-born forward Tanner Howe and 2005-born prospect forward Matthew Wood have been impressive through two games at Canada's National Men's Summer U-18 Team Selection Camp, ahead of the of Hlinka Gretzky Cup which will take place from July 31 - August 6 in Red Deer, Alta.

Howe, 16, picked up a power play goal in a 6-4 victory for team red over team white on Friday at the Markin MacPhail Centre - WinSport Arena in Calgary. The Prince Albert, Sask. product represented Canada at the IIHF U18 World Championship following the conclusion of the 2021-22 season, where he appeared in four contests. Last season, the 5-foot-8, 176 lb. winger led all Pats rookies in goals (27), assists (42), points (69), power play goals (11), power play assists (16) and short-handed goals (2), and finished fourth in WHL rookie scoring and tied for third in assists.

Wood, 17, has totaled four points (2G-2A) in two contests for team red, which is tied for first in their selection camp scoring. The Pats 2020 second-round selection tallied a goal and an assist on Friday, as well as a goal and an assist on Saturday in a 6-3 loss to team white. The 6-foot-3, 185 lb. Nanaimo, B.C. product also scored two goals for Canada at the IIHF U18 World Championship in the spring.

Canada's U-18 selection camp continues this week, wrapping up on Wednesday, July 27.
