HOUSTON, TX- (Thursday, November 9, 2006) - City of Houston Mayor Bill White and City of Boston Mayor Thomas Menino have made the race for the 2006 MLS Cup a little bit more interesting: both have agreed to participate in a wager for pies.

"We have a bunch of fanatic fans, and they wont mind if Boston scores a goal, just as long as we score a bunch more. I am not going to tell you the final score, because then (people) will say that the game was fixed", said City of Houston Mayor Bill White.

Mayor White has wagered 10 pecan pies that Houston will bring home the cup, while Mayor Menino has bet 10 Boston cream pies that his team will take home the trophy. Whoever loses of the two will be required to send the winner the pies.

"I'll tell you what is going to happen: Taylor Twellman will score the winning goal at 2:30 minutes to go", said City of Boston Mayor Thomas Menino. To which Mayor White responded, "if that occurs, I'm going to have a league investigation."

Both the Dynamo and the New England Revolution will travel to Frisco this afternoon, to start preparations toward the 2006 MLS Cup game, which will be played this Sunday, November 12, at 2:30 p.m. CT. The game, which is already sold out, will be broadcast live on national television by ABC. Locally, the contest will be broadcast by Radio Concierto, 850 AM and 101.7 FM and ESPN 790 AM, the Sports Animal.
