Houston Dynamo to Host its First-Round CONCACAF Champions Cup Home Game at College Station

HOUSTON, TX - (Monday, January 08, 2007) - The Houston Dynamo will host its 2007 CONCACAF Champions Cup home game against Costa Rica's Puntarenas FC at College Station, TX, it was announced today.

The announcement was made this afternoon at the Aggie Soccer Complex in College Station.

"The Houston Dynamo feel honored to be organizing a game here in College Station. We would like to thank Texas A&M University for allowing us to use their facilities to host such an important international game," said Dynamo President and General Manager Oliver Luck.

The Dynamo will play the away leg of their series in Puntarenas' "Lito" Perez Stadium on Wednesday, February 21 at 1:30 p.m. CT. The team will return to host Puntarenas at the Aggie Soccer Complex on Thursday, March 1, at 8:00 p.m. CT.

"We look forward to a great night of international competition", said Texas A&M Athletic Director Bill Byrne. "What we have here is a unique opportunity to showcase our university and our city to soccer fans from all over, and we will do our best to make sure we make this an unforgettable experience, both for fans and participating athletes alike."

Texas A&M's soccer program is one of the best in the nation. Under the tutelage of coach G. Guerrieri, the team has won a total of 9 Championships in the last 14 years, among them 4 Big 12 Tournament Crowns. Guerrieri's team is ranked 13th in the nation, according to the latest Division I NSCAA/adidas National Rankings.

"We feel privileged to have the Dynamo come and play a game of this magnitude at the Aggie Soccer Complex. This is very special for all of us who follow soccer, and know that it is not every day that you get a champion to play in your back yard", said Guerrieri.
