Houston Dynamo FC News Release
HOUSTON - Houston Dynamo FC acquired $500,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) from St. Louis CITY SC in a trade for defender Tim Parker, both clubs announced today. The Dynamo will receive $250,000 in 2023 GAM, $250,000 in 2024 GAM and will retain a portion of Parker's club salary budget charge over two years (2023 and 2024). With the trade the Dynamo now have up to 11 open rosters spots for the 2023 regular season.
"We continue to make significant changes this offseason to build a stronger club for the future. The resources acquired in this trade will allow us to build a more competitive roster in 2023 and beyond," said Pat Onstad. "Tim played an influential role in our team over the past two seasons and made a positive impact in our community. We wish him well as he starts the next chapter of his career."
Parker finished with 60 starts and 62 appearances for the team and was named the Ironman of the Year in his first season with the club. The 29-year-old served as the captain of the team for the majority of his two seasons with Houston and earned MLS Team of the Week honors earlier this year after playing a key role in Houston's 2-1 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes in July.
The eight-year MLS veteran has started 207 games in the league after being drafted by Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft.
The defender joined the Dynamo in a trade with the New York Red Bulls on Jan. 19, 2021, for $300,000 in 2021 GAM and $150,000 in 2022 GAM, with additional performance-based incentives.
