Houston Dynamo FC News Release
HOUSTON - Houston Dynamo FC has partnered with Firat Education (pronounced FUR-OUGHT) in a deal that will provide players from the Dynamo Academy with assistance in meeting their educational goals, the two organizations announced today.
Firat Education is a Houston-based educational consulting and college prep firm that works one-on-one with students and parents to ensure academic success for its clients.
Due to the intense workload that comes with competing in an elite-level youth academy, players in the Dynamo Academy's Pre-Professional Phase (ages 16-23) balance multiple on-field training sessions, film study and gym work with their regular academic workload.
As part of the agreement, Firat Education staff will meet weekly with each Under-17 and Under-23 player for two hours to provide a subject-specific open lab during study hours for direct academic support. Additionally, Firat staffers will check-in with each player once every two weeks during the school year to discuss grades, classes and provide them with guidance on how to accomplish their academic goals.
"We are very excited about our new educational partnership with Firat Education," said Houston Dynamo FC Academy Director Paul Holocher. "Striving to be a top player, with competitive daily practices, travel, all while maintaining academic success, is not easy. It requires discipline and good habits and a strong support system. Firat Education will provide this support within the Academy. We know this type of expert care will help us to excel on and off the field."
In addition to working directly with the Academy players, Firat will provide monthly progress reports to the Academy and parents regarding the players' academic progress. These reports, in conjunction with the eight annual workshops for players and their parents, will provide an overall framework for ensuring the academic success of every member of the Dynamo Academy.
"The mission of the partnership between the Houston Dynamo Academy and Firat Education is to build upon the culture of soccer development with the culture of academic development," said Chief Educational Consultant Ibrahim Firat. "The vision of the future is to provide student players at the Dynamo Academy an academic and soccer experience found nowhere else in the MLS by having in-house, top-notch curriculum and experienced faculty who will hold student players to unparalleled academic standards."
Firat Education has a proven track record of ensuring academic success for its students. In less than a decade, Firat has established itself as a leading educational services provider for students and parents alike, with numerous metrics to demonstrate its efficacy.
