Houston Dynamo, Direct Energy Announce Partnership

HOUSTON (Tuesday, May 1, 2012) - The Houston Dynamo and Direct Energy have reached a long-term sponsorship agreement that will make Direct Energy an official partner of the Dynamo and BBVA Compass Stadium, it was announced today. Direct Energy will also serve as the official energy provider for the Dynamo and BBVA Compass Stadium.

"We are pleased to partner with one of North America's largest retail electricity providers, Direct Energy, as the official energy provider for the Houston Dynamo," said Dynamo Executive Vice President Steven Powell. "Direct Energy's commitment to the community matches our own and we look forward to partnering with them on several key grassroots initiatives, including the Dynamo's highly popular youth soccer loyalty initiative, MLS Futbolito, Dynamo Trials and the Dynamo Corporate Cup."

Direct Energy is also the official presenting sponsor for the Sept. 6 home game between the Dynamo and Real Salt Lake.

"Direct Energy is excited to partner with the Houston Dynamo and play a larger role in Houston's community, said Direct Energy President Steven Murray. "As we recently announced our corporate headquarter relocation to Houston, this partnership solidifies the fact that we are committed to this city and its people. Similarly the color orange is a big part of both of our identities, so it's a perfect match."
