TheÃÂ Tokyo 2020 knockout rounds commencedÃÂ Friday morningÃÂ on the other side of the world.ÃÂ There wasÃÂ plenty of action in all three matches involving Houston Dash players, including extra time for each match.
CanadaÃÂ openedÃÂ the Quarterfinals as they took on Brazil in an excitingÃÂ back and forth match. ForwardÃÂ Nichelle PrinceÃÂ and defenderÃÂ Allysha ChapmanÃÂ started the match. The two sides exchanged multiple chances and looks at goal, but neither could find the back of the net even in extra time, sending the match into penalties. With two bigÃÂ back-to-backÃÂ saves from Canadian goalkeeper Stephanie Labbe, Canada advanced to the semifinals.ÃÂ PrinceÃÂ logged 63 minutes for Canada while ChapmanÃÂ loggedÃÂ 107 minutes with extra time.
TheÃÂ USWNT wrapped up Quarterfinals with a re-match of the 2019 Women's World Cup, taking on the Netherlands. MidfielderÃÂ Kristie MewisÃÂ was in the match day 18.
