Houston Dash News Release
HOUSTON - The Houston Dash have signed Australian forward Kyah Simon, the club announced today.
Simon, 26, spent the winter playing in her home country with Melbourne City FC where she scored two goals in 14 appearances and won the 2018 W-League Grand Final with Melbourne City FC on Feb. 18.
Prior to joining Melbourne, Simon spent one season with the Boston Breakers in the NWSL where she scored three goals in 23 appearances during the 2016 season. Boston retained Simon's rights after she returned to Australia in 2017. The 26-year-old was selected by Houston with the sixth pick in the NWSL Dispersal Draft on Jan. 30.
The Australian international made her debut with the senior national team in 2007 as a 16-year-old. She has represented Australia in two FIFA Women's World Cups, leading Australia to back-to-back quarterfinal appearances in 2011 and 2015. Simon has scored 23 goals at the international level in 76 appearances.
The forward suffered a hamstring injury in the 62nd minute of the Grand Final and will remain in Australia to continue her rehab. The club will provide updates on her status as she continues the rehab process.
