Houston Dash Conclude Preseason with 2-1 Victory over Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS- The Houston Dash finished their 2017 preseason with a 2-1 victory over Texas A&M at Ellis Field.

Houston opens the 2017 NWSL regular season against the Chicago Red Stars at 1 p.m. on April 15 at BBVA Compass Stadium.

Dash midfielder Amber Brooks scored the first goal of the game with a free kick in the 13th minute. Midfielder Caity Heap suffered a foul 15 yards outside the box and Brooks' shot beat the Texas A&M goalkeeper with a menacing shot to the upper corner of the far post.

The Aggies equalized seven minutes later after they were awarded a free kick for an offside call. Defender Briana Alston's free kick from the Aggies defensive half bounced into the box and over Dash goalkeeper Lydia Williams at the near post.

Defender Cari Roccaro found forward Rachel Daly at the edge of the six yard box for the game-winning goal in the 79th minute. The English forward dove to make contact with the cross and her header beat the Aggie goalkeeper at the far post.

Houston applied consistent pressure throughout the opening half after the opening goal as Daly missed the inside of the near post with a shot from outside the box in the 14th minute.

Brazilian midfielder Andressa had two shots from outside the box that tested Aggie goalkeeper Taylor Saucier with a shot from the edge of the box in the 38th minute. Four minutes later, the midfielder's shot went to the opposite post but the goalkeeper got a hand on the ball to concede a corner kick.

Minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute, defender Poliana was inches away from scoring Houston's second goal. The defender was inches away from a Brooks' cross outside the six yard box in the 69th minute.

Four minutes later, Andressa found Poliana at the near post but her header was off target.
