
Hounds Ready for Inaugural "Pink in the Rink"

The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club is proud to announce that they will be holding their inaugural "Pink in the Rink" fundraiser in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation on Saturday, September 25 when they play host to the Niagara IceDogs. Game time is 7:35 p.m.
The event is brought by to you the Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club, Scotiabank and Pepsi and is supported by the Essar Centre.
"Our organization takes great pride in working with our community, it's residents and it's fans as much as possible. It is a great honour for us to be able to help raise awareness of this disease that has touched so many of us in a variety of ways. Between corporate donations, proceeds from merchandise sales, and donations from our fans we hope the funds raised will help lead to a cure" stated Greyhound General Manager Dave Torrie.
As part of the event there will be multiple merchandise sales taking place leading up to the game, and on gameday.
Available starting tonight, September 10, at the "Hound Pound" (official souvenir store of the Hounds) will be limited edition "Pink in the Rink" TShirts ($12.00), Totebags ($5.00) or Combo Package featuring both ($15.00). These items will also be available starting Monday, September 13th at Scotiabank on Northern Avenue, Scotiabank Station Mall, Absolutely Delicious, Travelodge on Bay or the Soo Greyhounds office."Scotiabank believes in people, and in being involved in the community. We are proud of our long tradition of supporting the Soo community and we're very excited to have this opportunity to partner with the other event sponsors to help raise funds to cure breast cancer. We're looking forward to having the entire community come and join in this fight and make this event a resounding success" explained John Koster, Community Manager for Scotiabank.
On game day, a silent auction will be taking place featuring a Sidney Crosby autograph print, Wayne Gretzky autograph photos, Walter Gretzky painting, Corey Perry Autographed photo, Rick Nash Autographed photo, John Tavares autographed photo, Mike Fisher Ottawa Senators autographed jersey and 2 Pink Soo Greyhounds team autographed jerseys.
In addition, event sponsor Pepsi, will be selling pink wristbands and pins at the Essar Centre and they have provided Hounds players with pink laces, pink stick take and helmet stickers for this night.
"It is with great pleasure that we are partnering with local businesses and the community to raise funds and awareness to a cause that has touched so many of us. We are hoping for the community to help support this cause by bidding in the silent auction being presented by Pepsi during the 1st inaugural Pink in the Rink" stated Pepsico Beverages Canada representative Tom Lee.
When entering the arena for this event all fans will be given a Pink "Rowdy" towel courtesy of Soo Greyhounds, Scotiabank and the Essar Centre
And then during the 1st period of play, the "passing of the bucket" will take place for donations to this event. These donations will see Scotiabank and the Greyhounds match up to $5000 each, while Pepsi will be matching an undisclosed amount.

Mark September 25th on your calendars Sault Ste. Marie, as "Pink in the Rink" will raise funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
