Hounds One Point Back of First with Win

It was a history making night in Lubbock, Texas as the SteelHounds would defeat the Lubbock Cotton Kings 3-1 with Jeff Christian hitting a new career milestone of 500 assists.

There would be no score after the first period but in the second period Christian would get career assist 499 by helping Mark Johnson score a wrap around goal to make 1-0. The Hounds would not be done yet as seven minutes later Chris Shaffer would net his sixth of the season to make it 2-0. That would be the history making goal as Jeff Christian would get career assist 500 as he would be on his way to 501 assists for his career.

The third period would see Paul Esdale make a triumphant comeback to the ice by helping Brad Patterson put in the nail in the coffin at 1:37 to make it 3-0 Y-Town. Brad Roberts in his third straight start was fantastic making 34 saves on 35 shots giving up a Kyle Nosan goal at 2:21.

The win combined with a Memphis loss now puts the Hounds just one point back of both first place in the division and of the CHL's best record. Youngstown continues the road trip on Saturday night as the Hounds travel to Oklahoma City to take on the Blazers with an 8:35pm start.
