Windsor Spitfires News Release
Kerby Rychel had a hat-trick, but it wasn't enough, as the Greyhounds took a wild, 10-9 decision at the Essar Centre on Saturday night.
Rychel's three goals were his 39th, 40th and 41st of the season.
Brady Vail had a goal and three assists, while Ben Johnson and Ty Bilcke each chipped in a goal and an assist. Bilcke's goal was his first in the OHL, and it completed a "Gordie Howe Hat-Trick".
Fellow rookie Hunter Smith also appeared to score his first career goal at 12:01 of the third period, but it was awarded to Brandon Devlin.
Brandon Alderson and Carson Dubchak each scored twice for the Greyhounds, who will miss the playoffs.
Windsor (29-32-5-2) finished the regular season in eighth place in the Western Conference.
They are set to open Round One of the playoffs in London on Friday night. Game Two is set for Sunday afternoon at the WFCU Centre.
