Soo Greyhounds News Release
Soo Greyhounds General Manager Kyle Raftis is pleased to announce today the commitment from 2016 draft pick ALEX GRITZ.
A native of Cranberry Township, PA, Gritz was the Hounds 2nd pick overall (3rd Round, 50th overall) in this past April's OHL Priority Selection.
"We are very excited to announce the commitment from our third round draft pick, Alex Gritz. Alex is a high impact player who consistently demonstrates a high level of skill and understanding of the game when evaluated throughout the year" started GM Raftis.
"Alex consistently improved throughout the year and really stepped up for his team with an outstanding playoff performance, resulting in winning an Alliance championship with the Waterloo Wolves. It's been exciting to watch Alex mature as a player and we look forward to being a part of his development as a player moving forward" he added.
The 5.10, 166-lb centreman produced 41 points (19g, 22a) in 33 games this past season with the Waterloo Wolves Minor Midget hockey club.
At the OHL Gold Cup he notched 3 points in 4 games played.
Meanwhile at the 2015 USA Hockey Boys Select 15 Camp he had 4 points (3g,1a) with Team Grey.
Gritz will be among the 2016 Training Camp roster of the Hounds when they take to the ice this August.
