Midland RockHounds News Release

On the annual AFLAC night at Citibank Ballpark, the RockHounds (you might say) "ducked" a sweep by defeating the Frisco RoughRiders, 4-3, in front of a full house (7,818) at Rocky Town.

Jake Goebbert's two-run single (with a 1-2 count and two outs) in the sixth broke a 2-2 tie, and the 'Hounds held off a Frisco rally in the ninth for the win.

Anthony Aliott and D'Arby Myers drove in runs in the third inning as the RockHounds took a 2-0 lead. The RoughRiders answered in the fourth on Tomas Telis' two-run single. Telis also drove in a run (to make the score 4-3) with a single in the ninth, finishing with five RBI in the last two games of the series. Aliotti finished 2-for-2 with two walks, and is 15-for-his-last-28 (.536), raising his Texas League leading average to .369.

Sean Murphy earned the win with six strong innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, with no walks and five strikeouts. Left-hander Jeff Urlaub pitched a 1-2-3 seventh and Kyler Newby went the last two innings, escaping with the bases loaded in the ninth, for his sixth save.

The loss dropped Frisco two games behind Corpus Christi in the South Division first half race with six games to play, but the RoughRiders now play host to the Hooks in a critical, four-game series in the Metroplex.

The RockHounds, meanwhile, take their "AFLAC" momentum into a four-game series with the San Antonio Missions (Wednesday-Saturday) at Rocky Town (see below).
