Hounds Academy Clarifies Position on Birth Year Age Changes
February 19, 2016 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release
PITTSBURGH - The Riverhounds Academy has announced its position with regard to recently announced changes to the age classification guidelines set out by U.S. Youth Soccer and U.S. Club Soccer.
The Riverhounds' adherence to the forthcoming changes is based upon literal guidelines for age denominations and our philosophical approach to player development.
We will use a Stage-Based over Age-Based approach when assessing the composition of our Riverhounds Development Academy teams after the changes take effect. Our decisions will factor in each player's level against the standard for their eligible age groups and their high school graduation year.
