Hot Shooting Leads 905 Over Rip City, Win Four in a Row

Raptors 905 (9-14), the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors defeated the Rip City Remix (11-9) in their lone meeting of the 2023/24 season, 135-125 Tuesday evening. Reigning NBA G League player of the week Javon Freeman-Liberty led the 905 with 25 points, four rebounds, eight assists, and five steals. Taze Moore contributed a game-high 27 points and six assists in the Remix loss.

Rip City opened the ball game strong, outscoring the 905 41-33, shooting nearly 67% from beyond the arc. The two teams traded baskets throughout the second quarter, with the 905 chipping away at the once 14-point lead as they outscored Rip City 29-27 in the quarter. Mouhamadou Gueye led the charge for the 905 in the first half, putting up 14 points on 7-7 shooting.

Down six to open the half, the 905 got off to a hot start outscoring the Remix 20-4 in the opening minutes. The 905 gained control of the game holding the Remix to 21 points as they put up 4e5 third-quarter points, a season high for any quarter. The home team attempted to mount their comeback bid in the fourth quarter, bringing the ball game within nine points in the final 90 seconds, but were unable to overcome the deficit, dropping their franchise first meeting against the 905.

Jontay Porter provided complementary scoring adding 21 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and a block. Mouhamadou Gueye and Kevin Obanor added 18 points and 17 points, respectively. Alex Reese contributed 25 points and four rebounds off the bench for Rip City.

Raptors 905 close out their road trip in the Windy City, taking on the Bulls Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Rip City continues their homestand, hosting the Iowa Wolves, tip-off scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
