Horsemen return to action Saturday vs. Sioux Falls

LEXINGTON, Ky.—After a much-needed week off, the South-Division leading Lexington Horsemen return to action Saturday when they host Sioux Falls at 7:30 p.m. in Rupp Arena to wrap up a two-game homestand. The game will be carried live on Supertalk 96.1 FM with Gary Ball and Bill Ransdell.

The game is being billed as “Ladies Night” and fans are encouraged to come out and celebrate the event with an opportunity to win a number of exciting prizes. For all ladies tickets will be buy 1 get 1 free and for the first 100 ladies through the day you will receive a free gift bag from Mary Kay Cosmetics.

The Horsemen (6-4) and Storm (7-3) are meeting for the second time this season as Lexington dropped a 52-24 decision to Sioux Falls in Sioux Falls, S.D., on April 9. The all-time series between the two squads is tied at one game apiece. The Horsemen defeated the Storm on Aug. 7, 2004 to capture last seasonÂ’s national championship. This will mark the first time the two teams will face one another in Rupp Arena in the history of the franchises.

Lexington is currently leading the United Indoor Football league in pass offense with 1602 passing yards (160.2 avg.) and 40 receiving touchdowns. Third-year quarterback Dusty Bonner is leading the UIF in passing yards with an average of 163.9 yards per game. BonnerÂ’s 1657 total offensive yards per game also is a league best.

Running back Derek Homer is leading the team on the ground this season with 391 rushing yards (39.1 avg) on 108 rushing attempts. Homer has rushed for 11 touchdowns this season. First-year running back Randy Bell is tops on the squad with 12 rushing scores.

Wide receiver Harry Lewis is the squadÂ’s top receiver, averaging 44.4 yards per game with a team-high 11 receiving scores this year.
