Greensboro, NC- Cristhian Martinez continued the recent strong pitching for Greensboro, as the Grasshoppers won its eighth straight game by defeating the Delmarva Shorebirds 4-1 at First Horizon Park.
Martinez pitched six scoreless innings and gave up five hits and struck out four as he won his fourth game in the month of July. Chris Leroux, Rodolfo Encarnacion and Avi Rasowsky eached pitched an inning after Martinez, with Rasowsky picked up his first save of the season.
John Raynor paced the Grasshoppers offense with three RBI and a run scored. He hit a sacrifice fly in the third to score Daniel Garcia for a 1-0 lead, and hit an opposite field two-run homerun to right-center for a 3-0 advantage. Logan Morrison also homered for Greensboro, his 20th of the season.
Pedro Beato took the loss for Delmarva , as he went seven innings and gave up four earned runs. Pedro Florimon was 2-for4 with a pair of doubles to lead the Shorebirds offense.
Tomorrow's game is set for 7:00, with Jarrett Santos on the mound for Greensboro and looking to extend their win streak to nine. Zach Clark will oppose for Delmarva.
