(SPRINGFIELD, MO) - Hooks' infielder Mark Saccomanno and pitcher Jason Hirsh were chosen as the Texas League Player and Pitcher of the Week respectively for the first week of the second half of the season.

Saccomanno, a resident of Spring, Texas and a former standout player at Baylor University, batted .444 (8-for-18) in the All-Star break shortened week to begin the second half. He doubled in each of the four games in the just-completed series at Arkansas, and totaled five doubles in the set plus one home run, two runs and four RBI's. Saccomanno has been a steady force for the Hooks' offense, with hits in 14 of 16 games dating back to June 8th.

Hirsh, a resident of Burbank, California and former star pitcher at California Lutheran, tossed eight shutout innings in guiding the Hooks to a 4-0 win at Arkansas on Sunday. Hirsh scattered five hits and two walks while tying his season high for strikeouts with eight. This is the second time this season Hirsh has been accorded Pitcher of the Week honors.

The Hooks are currently on the road in Springfield, Missouri. The club will return to Whataburger Field this Friday, July 1st to open a five-game series against the Midland RockHounds.
