Corpus Christi Hooks News Release
Right fielder Hunter Pence and first baseman Walter Young each drove in four runs to lead the Corpus Christi Hooks to an 11-5 victory over the Wichita Wranglers in Game One of the Texas League Championship Series Monday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
Pence, Young and Tike Redman combined for nine of the Hooks' 14 hits. Juan Gutierrez notched his second win of the postseason. He allowed three runs and six hits over six innings while walking three and fanning four. David Rollandini tossed two innings of scoreless relief.
Two right-handers square off in Game Two tonight at 7:05, Corpus Christi's Ronnie Martinez (3-1/5.51) and the Wranglers' Billy Buckner (5-3/4.64). Wednesday is travel day in the best-of-five series before action resumes at Whataburger Field Thursday night at 7:05.
