Corpus Christi Hooks News Release
TULSA, OK - Michael Feliz tossed five innings of one-run ball Saturday night, leading the charge in a 5-1 Independence Day triumph before 8,398 fans at ONEOK Field.
The Hooks have won all five of their series at Texas League North ballparks this year.
Feliz, who returned to the club on Friday following his second stint with the Astros, limited the Drillers to two hits. The two-out knocks came in back-to-back fashion in the third. After yielding a Ronny Torreyes single and Brian Burgamy's RBI double, Feliz retired the final seven men he faced.
The 22-year-old right-hander threw 39 of 58 pitches for strikes. Saturday marked Feliz's first outing since June 23.
Chris Cotton and Travis Ballew each hurled two innings of scoreless relief. Peter Lavin, who notched a two-out single in the seventh, was the lone Tulsa baserunner over the game's final six frames.
Colin Moran accounted for four of the Hooks' five runs against Dodgers pitching prospect Jose De Leon. Moran cracked a double in the third and later scored on Danry Vasquez's two-out single to center.
In the third, Chan-Jong Moon worked a lead-off walk and stole second base. After advancing to third on a ground ball, Moon scampered home when Jio Mier lifted a sac fly to left field.
Trailing 2-0, Jose De Leon issued walks to Mier and Jon Kemmer to begin the sixth. One out later, Moran cleared the bases with a triple to the gap in right, knocking Jose De Leon out of the game.
Former Hook Jorge De Leon took his place and was greeted by an RBI single off the bat of Conrad Gregor, staking Corpus Christi to a 5-1 lead.
The Hooks continue their road trip with a three-game set at Hammons Field in Springfield, MO. Sunday's series opener with the Cardinals begins at 6:10. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
