Frisco RoughRiders News Release
FRISCO, TEXAS - The Frisco RoughRiders dropped an extra innings affair, 3-2, against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals Saturday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark. The Independence Day game brought 11,876 fans to the park, the third-largest attended game in Riders history.
Tied 2-2 entering the tenth inning, Bubba Starling advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored the game-winning run for the Naturals on an RBI single by Kenny Diekroeger. Jefri Hernandez (1-1) was charged with his first Texas League loss as he allowed one run on three hits over two innings.
Ryan Cordell collected three infield singles and scored both runs for Frisco (4-5, 33-46) in the defeat. The runs came in the first and third innings on singles by Alex Burg and Zach Cone, who made his debut with the club by going 1-for-4 with an RBI.
The Naturals (4-5, 44-35) tied the ballgame in the sixth inning when Starling hit a double to score Liddi, making it 2-2. Liddi homered earlier in the game to get Northwest Arkansas on the scoreboard.
Sam Selman (3-3) picked up his third win of the year by pitching two innings of no-hit and no-run ball.
The RoughRiders return to action on Sunday at Dr Pepper Ballpark for a 6:05 p.m. start against the Arkansas Travelers. RHP Jose Leclerc will oppose RHP Albert Suarez. It will be another Kids Sunday Funday, where kids can have a pre-game catch on the field. There will also be a fireworks show following the game for fans to enjoy.
