Rochester Honkers News Release

(Rochester, MN) - The Rochester Honkers came into tonight's game looking for redemption after last night's loss to the Thunder Bay Border Cats. The Honkers got exactly what they wanted, winning by a score of 7-5 in a game that featured many lead changes Saturday night at Mayo Field.

Johnny Coy (RsJr, Wichita State) continued to hit very well for the Honkers. Coy went 3-for-4 with one RBI on the day. Coy now has 31 runs batted in and is climbing the league leader board.

Davy Wright (So, TCU) also had a solid day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored in the Honkers win. One of his two hits was a double, his 16th double of the season, which is the third highest in the league.

Aaron Siefken (Jr, Bethany Lutheran) got the start on the mound for the Honkers picking up his second win of the season. Siefken pitched seven innings allowing five runs on six hits. He also struck out a season high seven batters while only walking two.

The Honkers got two innings of solid relief, out of Tim Peterson (So, Western Nevada) and Austin House (So, New Mexico). Peterson rebounded in the eighth inning after walking the first batter and got three outs in a row, setting up House who got his sixth save of the season. House pitched a near perfect ninth, walking one batter and stranding him at first.

The two teams will play the rubber match tomorrow in a Sunday matinee. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 pm at Mayo Field. The Honkers will have Drew Bowen (RsJr, Oral Roberts) on the mound. Bowen will look to rebound after a loss against Alexandria before the All-Star Break.
