(Rochester, Minn.) - Jody Schaber, the man behind the music at Rochester Honkers home games, will not be returning for his seventh season as the Music Guy this summer. The team will begin the search for a new disc jockey immediately.
"As I looked at the schedule, I realized that I had to be gone a majority of the games due to travel and family events," said Schaber. "Therefore I will not be coming back for my seventh year as the Music Guy."
Schaber's first stint with the team was from 1998-2002 when he anchored the press box from the Music Guy's position. He then took a few years off to travel the country in the summer and visit as many professional ballparks as possible. Jody resurrected in 2010 and held that position through the 2015 season.
"I felt that my work with the Honker Nation was a really fun and special time in my life," added Schaber. "You guys will see me there, just on the other end having a cold beer or five."
Schaber, 49, is a Career Counselor for Workforce Development, Inc. in Rochester, and has been with them since 1993. He married Tammy Tasto in June of 2011.
The team is currently accepting applications for their new "Music Guy" for the 2016 season and beyond.
