Rochester Honkers Signee, Pitcher Clayton McGinness

(Rochester, Minn.) - The Rochester Honkers announced today the addition of Purdue Boilermaker pitcher, Tanner Schumacher and Wichita State Shocker pitcher, Clayton McGinness for the 2016 Northwoods League season.
Schumacher, a Blaine, Minn. native, is a 6-foot-5, 220-pound right-handed junior. He has made 19 appearances, one start, and owns a 1-5 record with a 7.67 ERA. In his appearances, Schumacher has pitched 27 innings, has issued 14 walks and struck out 23.
In his last appearance May 8, Schumacher went 0.2 innings and did not give up a hit or run, shutting down Northwestern. He graduated from Blaine High School in 2013 where he was a two-time all-conference honoree and played in the 2013 Minnesota All-Star Game.
McGinness, an Amazonia, Mo. native, is a 6-foot-1, 180-pound right-handed freshman. He has made 21 appearances, which is the most by a freshman this season for the Shockers, pitching 48.1 innings with a 6.89 ERA. He has tallied 33 strikeouts, 17 walks and has allowed 61 hits.
He graduated from Savannah High School where he earned a total of 11 varsity letters in baseball, basketball and football.
The Rochester Honkers 23rd season begins on May 31st when the team travels to Eau Claire, Wisconsin to take on the Express. The following night, Wednesday, June 1st, the Honkers battle the Express in their home opener at Mayo Field at 7:05 pm. Season Tickets, Bonus Books, Suites and Patios are now available.
