Hometown Heroes 2009

July 22, 2009 - Canadian American League (Can-Am) - Sussex Skyhawks News Release

The Sussex Skyhawks are pleased to announce that we have partnered with Newton Memorial, a strong supporter of our local professional baseball team, to create a new tradition at Skylands Park. Hometown Heroes is our way of recognizing outstanding individuals who have made a difference in our community by exemplifying the following attributes: leadership, commitment to excellence, betterment of community, innovative thinking and volunteerism.

Newton Memorial Hospital and The Sussex Skyhawks have selected five community leaders as our Hometown Heroes for 2009. These individuals are: John Matthews, Co-Owner of Hinkley Auto Sales; Tammie Horsfield, Executive Director of the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce; Glenn Lewis, Public Affairs Manager for Embarq; George Morville of the Morville Insurance agency; and Senator Steve Oroho. They will be honored in pre-game ceremonies beginning this Friday, July 24th. Subsequent Hometown Hero ceremonies will take place prior to the games on July 28th, August 7th, August 13th and August 21st.
