Homestand Continues Vs Calgary Tuesday-Thursday at the Nett
August 30, 2010 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Chico Outlaws News Release
The Chico Outlaws continue their season-ending homestand starting on Tuesday night at Nettleton Stadium as the Calgary Vipers pay a visit with playoff implications all over the series.
The Outlaws are trailing the Vipers by 2.5 games in the standings for the 2nd half title after Chico won the first half to ensure them a spot in the post-season that starts Sep 7th.
With a sweep of the Snakes, Chico could put themselves in first place and leave the Vipers, Victoria Seals and Edmonton Seals battling it out for 2nd-best record in the GBL North for the second playoff spot.
Right-hander Kris Honel (8-2) starts for Chico on Tuesday night opposite former big leaguer Mac Suzuki of the Snakes.
Wednesday's game will see leftie Mark McLemore of the Bandits, a big leaguer himself with Houston in 2007, taking the hill against Reggie Rivard of Calgary in game two of the series.
The series finale on Thursday will pit rightie Garret Holleran, who struck out a career high 11 batters in earning his ninth win of the year last Saturday night at the night against St George, against Dusty Gober of the Vipers.
Lots of intrigue awaits this week at the Nett, so come on out to the ballpark and support the team as they try to win the division wire-to-wire!
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights' games are all 7:05 pm starts.
Tickets are available at the Nettleton Stadium box office on the day of the game, by calling the office at 345-3210 or going online at www.chicooutlaws.com. You can also purchase playoff tickets as the Outlaws wait to see who their first round opponent will be!
