Edmonton Capitals News Release

Edmonton, AB - The final homestand of the Edmonton Capitals' regular season has arrived, and the Golden Baseball League team has plenty of exciting events lined up to show their fans just how much they've meant to them this year.

The Caps welcome the Victoria Seals to Edmonton for games Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 7 p.m. at TELUS Field, and fans have plenty to look forward to each night, as the team closes out its regular season home schedule.

Tuesday's game is the final regular season edition of Family Vision Care $2 Tuesdays, as all-you-can-drink slushies are just $2 all night. The Caps will also welcome some special guests to throw ceremonial first pitches. Crash and Mars from 102.3 NOW! Radio will toss the first pitches, and the East Park Orioles will throw the second round, in addition to serving as the Caps' honour guard. The Orioles recently represented Canada at the Senior Little League World Series.

The final Sonic Wiener Wednesday of the regular season is up next on Wednesday, as Capital Dogs are just $2 all night. Another local radio personality will be throwing out the opening pitch, as SONiC 102.9's Liann Cameron will do the honour.

Wednesday is also the Caps' first-ever Shirts Off Our Backs Night, as 18 lucky fans will win a game-worn and autographed jersey. Immediately following the final out, 18 Caps players or coaches will literally finish the game, remove their jerseys, sign them and hand them over to 18 lucky fans.

In order to be one of those lucky fans, their raffle ticket must be selected in one of the draws happening throughout Wednesday's game. Tickets will be on sale on the concourse at TELUS Field when the gates open at 6 p.m. Fans can purchase one ticket for $2, three tickets for $5 and 20 tickets for $20, with proceeds going directly to the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation. A signed Jose Lima jersey will also be auctioned off during the game.

The final regular season home game of the season is Thursday, and it's another edition of 4 for $44 Thursdays, as fans can purchase four tickets to the game, four hot dogs and four Pepsi products for just $44.

It's also Mark Pysyk Bobblehead Night, as the first 750 fans through the gates will receive a bobblehead of the Edmonton Oil Kings' defenceman who was the team MVP last season and was selected in the first round by the Buffalo Sabres at the 2010 NHL Draft. Pysyk will be throwing the ceremonial first pitch and will also be interviewed during the game.

The Caps are currently in fourth place in the GBL's North Division in the second half at 18-20. They are six games back of the first-place Calgary Vipers (24-14) and 3.5 games back of both the Seals and Chico Outlaws, who are tied at 21-16.

The Capitals are Edmonton's first choice for professional baseball and family entertainment. Season seats for 2011 are now available, and fans who purchase them before Sept. 2 will received a bat autographed by the entire team. Individual game tickets are available for just $10 every game. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster locations, the TELUS Field Box Office during regular business hours, by calling (780) 414-GOAL (4625) or online at capsbaseball.ca.
