Home Runs Spark Senators Win
May 6, 2010 - Eastern League (EL1)
Harrisburg Senators News Release
Chris Marrero and Leonard Davis each homered, and the Harrisburg Senators snapped a six-game losing streak with a 6-3 victory over the Bowie Baysox on Thursday night. Officially, 2472 fans watched the Senators prevail at Metro Bank Park.
Marrero's three-run home run came in the second inning, and put the Senators (11-16) in front 3-1. Jesus Valdez and Davis each scored on the blast, which cleared the deep centerfield wall with room to spare. Davis' homer was a two-run shot, and drove in Danny Espinosa in the third. Michael Martinez had scored on a throwing error earlier in the inning, and so the Senators had a 6-1 lead after three innings.
Bowie (15-13) would score single runs in the eighth and ninth, the latter coming off of a solo homer by Joel Guzman, but could not come all the way back. Chorye Spoone (1-4) took the loss for the Baysox, while Tom Milone (2-1) earned the win for the Senators. Milone allowed just one run in six and one-third innings of work. Victor Garate recorded all three outs in the ninth inning to garner his second save.
Martinez finished with three hits for the Sens, and Valdez and Michael Daniel added two apiece. The team finished with nine hits in total.
The Senators now take the momentum from the win into a three-game weekend series with the Richmond Flying Squirrels. The series begins with a 7 PM start on Friday night at Metro Bank Park, and will ultimately complete the team's ten-game homestand. Erik Arnesen (0-1, 2.29) makes his second start of the season for the Senators, and will take on Darryl Maday (4-0, 1.19) of Richmond. The radio broadcast of the game begins at 6:45 PM, on 1460 AM The Ticket and www.senatorsbaseball.com.
