
Home Runs Propel Bulls to Win

DURHAM, NC -Russ Canzler and Stephen Vogt both hit home runs for the Bulls in their 6-4 win over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Sunday night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The win gives the Bulls a split of the series with the IronPigs.
JJ Furmaniak led off the third inning for the Bulls with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Reid Brignac. Ray Olmedo singled to right field to score Furmaniak and give the Bulls a 2-0 lead. Canzler then came to the plate and drilled a fastball from IronPigs starter Ryan Edell (3-4) over the wall in right field making it a 4-0 advantage for the Bulls. Vogt's home run was also to right field in the fifth inning off of Edell.
Matt Moore (3-0) earned the win for the Bulls going six and two-thirds innings allowing five hits and two runs, while striking out ten. The two runs Moore did allow came in the seventh inning and it snapped a streak of 21 consecutive shutout innings. Rob Delaney worked around a home run and a single in the ninth inning to pick up his fifth save of the season.
Durham will begin a four-game series with the Rochester Red Wings on Monday August 8 at 7:05 p.m. The Bulls will send Alex Torres (7-6) to the mound against the Red Wings Eric Hacker (6-10).
