BRIDGEPORT, CT . - The Bridgeport Bluefish scored seven runs in the final four innings to come from behind and defeat the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 7-2 in the second game of their four-game series at Harbor Yard. Bridgeport improves to 2-0 in the second half while the Blue Crabs drop to 0-3.

The four home runs allowed by the Blue Crabs is the most this season. Southern Maryland has allowed ten home runs in the first three games of the second half and seven so far in their series against Bridgeport. Six of the seven runs scored by the Bluefish tonight came in via a round tripper.

A home run gave the Blue Crabs the lead in the top of the 1st as Steve Moss' third of the season made it 1-0.

It remained a pitcher's duel between Gaby Hernandez and Hunter Jones until the 6th inning when Bridgeport finally broke through. Prentice Redman tied the game at 1-1 with a one-out, solo shot. The Bluefish snagged the lead in the 7th inning with two more home runs. Denny Almonte's first of the night made it 2-1 and Austin Gallagher hit his first of the season two batters later to double their advantage.

Amadeo Zazueta brought the Blue Crabs back within a run in the top of the 8th with a leadoff solo home run but the Bluefish had a response in the home half of the inning. Luis Lopez singled in Ramon Castro to restore the two-run lead and Almonte followed with a three-run home run, his second of the game, to push the lead to 7-2.

The Blue Crabs continue their series with the Bridgeport Bluefish tomorrow night at 7:05 pm. Southern Maryland will be back in town for a four-game series against the Camden Riversharks beginning Thursday night at 7:05 pm.
