
Atlantic League All-Star Roster Announced

SUGAR LAND, TX - The 2014 Atlantic League All-Star Game to be held at Constellation Field has a new format, as the Sugar Land Skeeters will take on the best of the Atlantic League in a "Texas vs. East Coast" matchup. This year's Atlantic League All-Star Game visitor roster was announced today by Atlantic League Officials and features players from the remaining seven teams who received the most votes from the fans, teams and the media.
Atlantic League infielders who are announced for the All-Star Game are catchers J.R. Towles of Bridgeport and Adam Donachie of Somerset; first baseman Johan Limonta of York; second baseman Eric Patterson of York; shortstop Wilson Valdez of York; third baseman Corey Smith; utility players Amadeo Zazueta of Southern Maryland and Lance Zawadzki of Lancaster; outfielders Lew Ford of Long Island, Cole Garner of Lancaster, James Simmons of Bridgeport and Adam Bailey of Long Island; and designated hitter Alex Hudak of Camden.
Atlantic League pitchers who made the All-Star roster are Jake Hale and Matt Gorgen of Camden; Matt Zielinski of Somerset; Chris Schwinden of Lancaster; Rommie Lewis of York; Tim Gustafson of Bridgeport; Jim Ed Warden and Erik Hamren of Southern Maryland; and Shaun Garceau of Long Island.
The All-Star coaching staff will include manager Butch Hobson of Lancaster; pitching coach Cory Domel of Somerset; and hitting coach Stan Cliburn of Lancaster. There will also be Honorary Managers for both teams including Deacon Jones, Special Assistant to the Sugar Land Skeeters, who will be with the home team; and Bob Watson, former Major League general manager and player, who will join the visiting team.
The 2014 Atlantic League All-Star festivities will begin on Tuesday, July 15 as Memorial Hermann presents the Atlantic League All-Star Fan Fest featuring a "Pros vs. Joes" whiffle ball game and Kevin Fowler concert for fans to enjoy.
