
Home Opener Set for October 14

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins will begin the home portion of their 2016-17 season with Opening Night presented by Huntington Bank on Friday, Oct. 14 at Van Andel Arena, one of six home dates that have been confirmed by the American Hockey League.
In addition to their home opener, the Griffins will host their 20th annual New Year's Eve game on Saturday, Dec. 31. Girl Scout Night and the first Cross-Ice Jamboree will be on Saturday, Jan. 7. Grand Rapids' home contest on Saturday, Jan. 21 will accommodate Boy Scout Night and serve as part of the 2017 Great Skate Winterfest, one of the team's annual fundraisers for the Griffins Youth Foundation.
The second Cross-Ice Jamboree will be held prior to the Saturday, Feb. 4 game while a Polar Plunge benefiting the Special Olympics is set for Saturday, Feb. 25.
Opponents and start times will be revealed later this summer, when the complete schedule for the AHL's 81st season is released. The 2016-17 campaign will mark the Griffins' 16th year of AHL membership and 21st season overall.
