Chicago Steel News Release
GENEVA, ILLINOIS - The Chicago Steel will skate on home ice for the first time in the 2018 USHL Clark Cup Playoffs later this week when the Steel host Games 3 and 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals on Thursday and Friday, April 26-27, against Team USA (USA Hockey's National Team Development Program) at Fox Valley Ice Arena. Faceoff is set for 7:05 p.m. CT for both games. The best-of-five series is tied 1-1.
The Steel, 2017 Clark Cup Champions, are attempting to become the first team to repeat as Clark Cup Champions since the Omaha Lancers (1993 & 1994), and are excited to offer a "Back-to-Back Blitz" ticket promotion for Games 3 and 4, where fans can buy one ticket, get one ticket free! The offer applies for center reserved, attack preferred and attack reserved tickets, and the limited-time promotion ends Wednesday, April 25. Tickets can be purchased at ChicagoSteelHockeyTeam.com with promo code: BOGO, at the Box Office inside Fox Valley Ice Arena or by calling 855-51-STEEL.
Games 3 and 4 will feature many fun fan activities throughout the game. Promotions and contests include the Budweiser Shootout, Slingshot Bowling, Playoff Beard Cam, fans identifying famous "Clarks" and the Rusty Dance Party.
Last week, the Steel battled back from a Game 1 loss in the First Round to win a best-of-three First Round series, 2-1, at the Muskegon Lumberjacks. Aaro Vidgren's series-clinching goal in overtime of Game 3 Wednesday pushed the Steel into the next round.
This past weekend at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich., Chicago split the opening games of the Eastern Conference Semifinals against Team USA. Game 1 on Saturday night went to Team USA, 3-0, but Chicago answered back with a dominant 6-2 victory Sunday afternoon to even the series and steal home ice away from the top-seeded Team USA. Steel forward Samuel Bucek led the way in the Game 2 win with a four-point (2-2-4) performance. Defenseman Graham Lillibridge (2-0-2) also scored his first USHL playoff goals and registered a +5 rating in the game. Lillibridge, a Geneva native and Yale University commit, is now third all-time in Steel postseason history with 14 points (2-12-14).
