Holloway and Legends Stop Stampede

SANTA CRUZ, CA - The Texas Legends rounded off their first out-of-state road trip with a victory over the Idaho Stampede Wednesday night 102-96.

The game stayed close with 18 lead changes and 10 ties. The Legends' shooting started out cold as the team hit only 29% and 20% from outside in the first. Brandon Ashley led the quarter with 8 points, 4 rebounds as Texas held onto a 2-point advantage at the buzzer. Shooting improved on both ends of the court in the second, but Idaho out-rebounded the Legends 11-9 on their way to a one-point halftime lead.

The third quarter saw much of the same with six lead changes and four ties. Tyus Jones powered out 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting but the Legends pulled ahead by two once again. Texas set the tone early in the fourth as they started off with eight unanswered points. With just under five minutes on the clock, the Legends saw their largest lead of the night with a 14-point gap. Jones posted seven points as the Stampede chipped away but the Legends sealed the victory at the foul line.

Tu Holloway led the Legends with 22 points, 5 assists. Toure' Murry added 12 points and a team-high 11 rebounds, 3 steals. Allen Durham came off the bench to add another double-double for the Legends with 10 points, 10 rebounds in 20 minutes.

Jones led the Stampede in scoring with 27 while Jeff Ayres (15 points, 10 rebounds) and Brandon Fields (13 points, 11 assists) each added double-doubles.
