Brown, Ebanks Have Double-Doubles as Grand Rapids Drive Rallies to Win

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Lorenzo Brown and Devin Ebanks each had double-doubles as the Grand Rapids Drive rallied to win on Thursday night.

Brown had 23 points and 12 assists and Ebanks had 18 points and 15 rebounds as the Drive beat the Westchester Knicks 106-100 in front of 1,778 fans at the Westchester County Center.

Grand Rapids, the affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, improves to 4-6. Westchester, the affiliate of the New York Knicks, falls to 7-3. The Drive trailed by nine points in the fourth quarter, but went on a 20-6 run.

Kam Holsey, filling in for center Henry Sims, had a season-high 18 points and seven rebounds. He was followed by Sam Thompson, who had a season-high 16 points, and Dahntay Jones with 12. Michigan State product Branden Dawson had four points and six rebounds.

Knicks guard Jimmer Fredette finished with 19 points. The BYU product, who was the Naismith College Player of the Year in 2011, scored 37 points against Grand Rapids in his D-League season debut on Nov. 30. Kevin Kapers led the Knicks with 24 points.

Brown scored back-to-back baskets to give Grand Rapids an 86-84 lead with 6:41 to go in the game that they would not relinquish. The Drive had trailed by as many as nine points.

The Drive nearly tied a season-low in points in the first half, but It didn't matter because they held a 48-45 lead at halftime. Their low for the season was 46 points against Fort Wayne on Dec. 6. Dawson got a nice pass in the paint from Brown to give Grand Rapids the lead with 4 seconds left in the half.

Xavier Ford, who had only scored 12 points all season for the Drive, drained had a layup and a jump shot in the second quarter. The forward out of the University of Buffalo, finished with six points.

Thompson drained his first 3-pointer of the season. The Ohio State product hit the three late in the second quarter to tie the game at 40-40. He had been 0-for-11 from long range.

Grand Rapids returns home to play back-to-back games this weekend. They host the Canton Charge on Saturday at 7 p.m. and the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Sunday at 4 p.m. Saturday is Family Night, where fans can get four tickets, four hot dogs and four sodas for $44. Saturday is the second River City Sunday, where there are give-aways and $1 hot dogs.
