Hogs win 5-2 on Tuesday

Winston-Salem, NC – The Winston-Salem Warthogs (21-16) behind seven strong innings from starting pitcher Byeong An, beat Lynchburg, 5-2 on Tuesday. An improved to 5-2 on the season, after giving up two runs on six hits and striking out seven. Reliever Ryan Meaux pitched the eighth and ninth innings for his fourth save. Patrick O'Brien dropped to 1-4 for the Lynchburg. O'Brien gave up five runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings.

The Warthogs went up 1-0 in the first. Ruddy Yan led off with an infield single. He would scored on a Jeremy Reed sac fly to centerfield. Yan knocked in the hogs' second run with and RBI groundout in the second.

Lynchburg the first of its two runs in the fifth. Jose Bautista single to left and stole second base. Bautista scored on an RBI single to left by Jeremy Harts. Up 2-1 in the fifth, the hogs added two more runs on Brian Becker's team leading seventh homerun. The two-run shot put the hogs up 4-1.

Winston-Salem scored its last run in the sixth on Casey Rogowski's first homerun of the year off of the right field foul line. The Hillcats scored its last run on a solo homerun by Yurendell Decaster in the eighth.

Brian Becker finished the night with three hits and two RBIs. Casey Rogowski and Jeremy Reed had two hits a piece. Ruddy Yan increased his team leading and season leading hitting streak to 11 games with his first inning single.

The six game series will continue on Wednesday with a day night doubleheader. First pitch of game one will be at 12 noon. Game two will start at 7:15pm.
